Our Wines
2007 QED
The 2007 QED is our first wine and, as such, is the culmination of our dreams of making fine wine. And fine it is.
We are very proud of the 2007 QED.
This wine is a beauty displaying wonderful purity of fruit, a gorgeous mid-palate and a long, enticing finish. It’s a wine with impeccable balance that will drink well young and age beautifully.
The majority of the Syrah fruit comes from the Les Collines Vineyard in Walla Walla with Syrah from Seven Hills Vineyard (Walla Walla) and Lewis Vineyard (Yakima) playing supporting roles.
A little bit of Mourvedre and Grenache (both from Minick Vineyards in Yakima) help fill out the wine and give it more structure and nuance.
The name QED comes from our strong mathematics backgrounds. QED is traditionally written at the end of a mathematical proof. In essence, it means “I’ve proven what I set out to prove.”
When we started our winery, we were often asked if we could actually make world class wine.
Well, the proof is in the bottle – QED.
2007 Principia Reserve Syrah
The 2007 Principia is our first reserve wine. With only 70 cases produced, there isn't much to go around.
This reserve wine is the first in our Celebrate Excellence Series and is named after Sir Isaac Newton’s Philosophiæ Naturalis Principia Mathematica (known as Principia). The Principia is a seminal work that changed the way we view the natural world. Newton's laws of motion form the basis of classical mechanics – the study of bodies in motion.
The 2007 Principia Reserve Syrah is a blend of Syrah from 5 vineyards. The predominant source is Les Collines Vineyard in Walla Walla. The other sources are Seven Hills Vineyard, Double River Vineyard, Lewis Vineyard and Portteus Vineyard. The wine was aged 23 months in French oak with 30% in new barrels.
The Wines of Rasa Vineyards
There are many good wines in the marketplace today. However, they are generally cookie-cutter, by-the-numbers type that offer nothing special. The key to our winery's success is our utmost dedication to producing the highest quality wines that highlight the unique soil and varietal characteristics of Washington Syrahs. Rasa Vineyards' Syrahs are produced from estate grown Syrah grapes and those sourced from select quality conscious growers from the various Washington AVAs.
We've purposely chosen to set down our roots in Washington State. While the majority of wineries in the area focus on making wines from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Chardonnay, certain AVAs are acknowledged to be ideal for Syrah. Few Washington wineries are dedicated to Syrah even as consumer demand for Syrah increases. Rasa Vineyards is stepping up to fill this gap for high quality, premium Syrah wines.
