2024 QED CONVERGENCE
WINEMAKER’S NOTES
The 2024 QED is a full-bodied, complex wine showing a bit more finesse and elegance than the previous warm vintage iterations of this wine. 2024 wasn’t a cool vintage per se, but it had lower heat accumulation (still above the long term average) as compared with 2021 and 2023. This wine has a diverse bouquet, a dense mid-palate, and a very long finish. The bouquet shows primary notes of blackberry, grilled herbs, white pepper, kirsch, forest floor supported by nuances of floral tones, tar, and dark chocolate. On the palate the complexity continues with notes of kirsch, blackberry, huckleberry, white truffle, tar, smoldering incense, and smoked meat. Overtones of white pepper, roasted spices, and grilled herbs can also be found. A beautiful, classic wine made in the signature Rasa style: gorgeous mouthfeel, exquisite balance, refined tannins, and a long, resonant finish. The wine should reach maturity in 6-8 years and will hold for approximately 15+ years.
TECHNICAL DETAILS
The wine had a pre-fermentation maceration average of 143 hours and a post-fermentation maceration average of 125 hours. Native fermentation was used on 90% of the lots. 50% whole clusters were used to give added structure. The wine was punched down by hand 3 times each day during macerations and fermentation. All individual wine components, including free run and press fractions, were kept separate until final blending. The oak profile is 20% new French oak (predominantly from Troncais and Alliers) and 80% neutral French oak. The wine had an elevage of 19 months in oak and was racked three times but not fined. The wine was very lightly filtered to capture any remaining lees. The alcohol is 14.7%, pH is 3.81, and the titratable acidity is 6.0 g/L.

LABEL STORY
QED stands for “Quod Erat Demonstrandum”—Latin for “Which was to be demonstrated.” At the end of a mathematical proof, you typically write QED. It basically means “I’m done; I’ve proven what I set out to prove.”
When we started our winery, our family and friends would say “You guys know a lot about wines, but can you make world class wine?”
Well, the proof is in the bottle – QED.
